August 31, 2017Members of the American Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Technology Attorneys, also known as AAAA, are readying for their midyear conference, Master the Magic of Family Building: Reproductive Law in a Changing World. The three-day conference will begin on September 17 in Anaheim, California.
Co-chairing the midyear meeting is Stephanie Caballero, Esq., the founder of The Surrogacy Law Center, PLC, located in San Diego County. Caballero will also be moderating a September 19 panel entitled, “Modern Day Matchmaking – Ethics and Standards of Practice” with speakers Judy Sperling and Gary Debele.
According to Caballero, attorneys wishing to become members, or “Fellows,” of AAAA, must be vetted and must have worked on 50 or more cases in the field of assisted reproduction, but this conference is open to any attorney or professional in the field.
While Caballero is looking forward to attending the various educational sessions, she’s also delighted to meet up with her colleagues from all over the world.
“One of the best parts of the conference is to see people face to face, exchange ideas, and talk about emerging issues in the field. We only get the opportunity to do this about once or twice per year,” she said. Caballero added, “The sessions at AAAA are excellent because a lot of the people presenting are AAAA Fellows.”
For the first time, the midyear meeting also includes paralegal sessions. Representing Caballero’s law firm as a presenter during one of these sessions is Melanie Siebert, and the entire staff of The Surrogacy Law Center will attend the conference.
“It’s important that my staff interact with their colleagues at other offices. Our business is worldwide so a great deal of our communication is done by internet and phone. Now, they will be able to meet the people who they work with, which is invaluable,” she said.
“For our paralegals to have this opportunity is fantastic. It was a no-brainer for me to take my entire staff,” Caballero said.
