However, there’s no set amount they are required to be paid and that leaves some surrogates making more than others. There are even some who offer to carry a child for free, usually for a close friend or family member who can’t have children of their own.

Nationwide, first-time surrogates make an average base pay of $45,000 to $55,000. Fees rise to between $60,000 and $70,000 for second-time surrogates, and the families needing the services end up spending around $150,000 per child with all the additional expenses included such as IVF costs and legal fees. Additionally, carrying twins, having complications, or other extenuating circumstances can raise the price for a surrogate.

There are legal contracts governing how their surrogacy arrangement will work and when someone goes through an agency to work with a surrogate that agency usually has a program in place in order to protect all parties to the transaction.

All surrogates agree that the extra money is a nice addition to their families’ bottom line, but many who perform this service say it should never be considered a side hustle. There are real risks to pregnancy, and even a normal, healthy pregnancy and delivery takes a toll on a woman’s body. Most surrogates say they truly want to help people, and that they aren’t doing it solely for the money they earn.

Women who want to be surrogates need to be at least 21 years of age. They also need to have already given birth to one or more children free of any complications. There are medical and psychological exams women need to complete before being accepted to be a surrogate, as well, to ensure they’re not at risk for mental or physical complications. Having a stable home life and reasonable education are additional requirements through most agencies, to help protect women and ensure they understand what they’re choosing to do.

We aim to provide our clients with a straightforward breakdown of what might seem to be a complicated and daunting process so that they can enjoy the beautiful experience of bringing a child into the world through surrogacy. Contact us today to schedule your consultation!

[14

post-3868","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-surrogacy-2
["GET
