In 2012, the “experimental” label was lifted from the procedure. At that time, the opportunities really took off and many more women began the process. In a recent New York Times article, seven women who were contacted and interviewed about their experiences with freezing their eggs recently talked about their feelings and thoughts.

While many women were happy they froze their eggs because it gave them options, not every one of the seven women interviewed shared that sentiment. Some of the most concerning issues for women who regretted freezing their eggs was the cost, as there’s a yearly fee to keep them stored.

One woman also admitted that she wasn’t even sure where her eggs were being stored, and the potential for donating them to other women was complicated by a lot of red tape and frustration. Another woman who regretted freezing her eggs was bothered by the fact that she didn’t actually need the procedure. She conceived on her own, and her eggs remain unused.

There were also worries over the stress and strain of egg retrieval, and one woman went through a lot of medical effort to get to the retrieval stage, only to find that none of the frozen eggs were viable. All the time, effort, and expense was for nothing. However, every woman’s experience is unique. There are many women who are happy with freezing their eggs.

A lot of women used to freeze their eggs when they reached their late 30s, because they knew that their timeline for viability was getting smaller. Now, most of the women freezing their eggs are in their 20s, and they’re making the choice to freeze them, so they have choices and options for the future.

That’s the biggest value point for the majority of women who were interviewed and are happy with the choice they made, because they know they have more options for the future when they want to have children.

At The Surrogacy Law Center, our thorough contracts also establish the intent of the parties regarding their rights, identify the parties’ financial responsibility, and ensure all parties are aware of the importance of informed consent, providing our clients with further peace of mind as they navigate their third party assisted reproduction journeys. Contact us to learn more!

[6

post-3611","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-egg-freezing
["GET
