Last month, model Chrissy Teigen and singer-songwriter John Legend announced in the release of Legend\u2019s music video for \u201cWild\u201d that they are expecting their third child. Their announcement surprised and delighted fans, but Teigen says nobody was more surprised than she was.<\/span><\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s first two children, 4-year old Miles and 2-year old Luna, were conceived via in vitro fertilization. In a 2018 interview with People Magazine, Teigen shared that she did not believe she could get pregnant without IVF, as they needed it for her first two pregnancies. However, Teigen\u2019s latest pregnancy happened without medical intervention.<\/span><\/p>\n

She shared with <\/span>Motherly<\/span><\/a> that she has taken pregnancy tests almost every month now for years. Used to seeing a negative result, she was afraid a surgery weeks earlier to remove her breast implants could have negatively impacted the pregnancy. She took a routine pregnancy test before surgery, which came back negative, so she moved forward with the procedure. However, only a short time later, her home pregnancy test showed a different result. Fortunately, her doctors were able to confirm it hadn\u2019t affected her pregnancy.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a <\/span>previous blog post<\/span><\/a>, we shared Teigen\u2019s and Legend\u2019s story including their desire for a large family, as well as the struggles they experienced trying to conceive using IVF. It is certainly not unheard of for someone to conceive on their own after years of battling infertility, but it is surprising and fairly rare. It is the outcome hopeful parents-to-be wish for, but it does not happen for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n
