In a recent episode of the Heal Squad podcast hosted by Maria Menounos, former Bachelorette star Hannah Brown revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare condition called a double uterus, also known as uterus didelphys. Affecting only about 0.3% of people with uteruses, this condition can pose unique challenges for those considering family building, including carrying a pregnancy or planning for future parenthood.

At 30 years old, Brown candidly shared that while she’s not quite ready to start a family, she’s becoming more proactive about her reproductive health. Her doctor recommended she consider freezing her eggs soon, and Brown noted she plans to do so after her upcoming wedding this year.

She also shared that there are many cases of people having double uteruses and having perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies.  

According to the Mayo Clinic, people with uterus didelphys can have successful pregnancies, but the condition may increase the risk of miscarriage or premature birth. Other potential challenges include determining whether both uteruses are functional, whether one is more favorable for carrying a pregnancy, and how the condition may impact her fertility overall.
